Wladimir Klitschko is uncertain about David Haye fighting Vitali Klitschko – Boxing News
Wladimir Klitschko, the current WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & The Ring Heavyweight champion, is uncertain regarding David Haye’s plans of fighting his brother Vitali Klitschko. Wladimir believes the bout that can happen any day, only if Haye is sure
as to what he wants.
“If you take a look in the past, it's very difficult to follow what David Haye really wants. Retirement, not retirement; fighting, not fighting,” said Wladimir in his recent interview to Sky Sports News.
David Haye went into retirement after losing to Wladimir Klitschko on points. He then made a comeback this month to face Dereck Chisora. Now, Haye is demanding a fight against Vitali Klitschko, the current WBC world heavyweight champion, claiming he is the
only one fit to face the Ukrainian champion.
“He says he wants Vitali or me, then goes and fights someone else. He eventually fought me, which was great after all the talk,” Wladimir added.
Vitali Klitschko is currently scheduled to face Manuel Charr on September 8. The Ukrainian fighter has announced plans of retirement, and has declared Charr as his last opponent. However, Wladimir believes Vitali might reverse his decision considering Haye’s
demand.
“The chances are there [for Haye v Vitali]. David became a better person, and I hope he is more reliable than he used to be. We'll see the next step. It's very important Vitali wins the [Charr] fight, then we can continue to talk,” Wladimir added.
For now, David Haye is trying his level best to get a shot against Vitali Klitschko. He knocked out Dereck Chisora in the fifth round to stamp a victory on his fallen career. According to Haye, his victory against Chisora has made him proud of his accomplishments.
The Brit believes that now he can retire with a smile, if he is unable to get his hands on Vitali.
It should be noted here that Haye’s loss to Wladimir had doomed his career for good. He retired because he felt all the doors of opportunities were closed for him. Now, Haye is back on the track and he wants to go head to head with the best once again.
