Wladimir Klitschko reckons he will perform better than David Haye under pressure – Boxing news
International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Organisation, International Boxing Organisation and Ring Magazine Champion Wladimir Klitschko reckons he can perform much better than the World Boxing Association World Heavyweight Champion David Haye.
The 6 ft 6.5” Ukrainian giant Wladimir Klitschko who has won 55 of his 58 fights including 49 by the way of a knockout, will take on the Hayemaker, David Haye, in a unification bout for the heavyweight title on July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg Arena in Germany.
This fight which is being considered as one of the biggest in the British boxing history will have an expected crowd of over 50,000 people and therefore Dr. Steelhammer, Klitschko, believes Haye would be in trouble.
The 35-year-old orthodox pugilist, Klitschko, told the media that he has been in such an environment three times before and this will be his fourth time. He also mentioned he will have the added advantage of the crowd, as he will be fighting in front of
his own people.
Klitschko then discussed his fight against Calvin Brock, which was held back in 2006 and he successfully defended his title. He stated it was a swelled arena, as there were more than 60,000 people but he did very well.
“This will be my fourth stadium fight in succession and I can’t wait to fight in front of 50,000 people in Hamburg, which is where I live,” Klitschko said. “When I fought at Madison Square Garden in 2006, defending my title against Calvin Brock, in one of
the promotions for the fight, I had to throw the first pitch at Yankees Stadium.”
“There were 60,000 people at this sold-out event and the guy asked me before if I was nervous. He said ‘there are 60,000 people out there and if you miss it, they’re going to boo you and it will be embarrassing,” he added.
Klitschko is showing great confidence ahead of his fight against the Londoner David Haye, who has won 25 of his 26 fights including 23 by the way of a knockout. However let’s see whether Klitschko can really live up to all the hype or not.
