Wladimir Klitschko reveals British people want him to beat David Haye – Boxing news
International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Organisation, International Boxing Organisation and Ring Magazine Champion, Wladimir Klitschko has said that the British people want him to strip off David Haye’s World Boxing Association’s World Heavyweight
Championship belt.
Wladimir Klitschko, who will take on David Haye in a unification bout on July 2, 2011 at Hamburg in Germany, told the media that he has met a lot of people in England and he was surprised as they were all wishing him all the best of luck against their countryman,
David Haye.
“I’m surprised but I’ve met a lot of British people who wish me good luck,” Klitschko said. “I said this is your countryman I don’t understand why you are telling me that. Do you just want to make me feel good and will you tell the same thing to David Haye?”
Meanwhile the 6 ft 6.5” Ukrainian giant, Klitschko, who has won 55 of his 58 fights including 49 by the way of a knockout, stated he did not understand this behavioural change among the British people. He said he told them that they should support their
countryman instead of him but still it did not work out.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “I don’t understand, guys. You should be supportive of your countryman. I was really surprised how many people over there in Britain were more supportive of me than of David Haye. It’s shocking actually.”
This all can also be part of a plan from Wladimir, as he knows David ‘the Hayemaker’ Haye recently revealed he might retire after he fights Klitschko on July 2, in a bout which is being considered one of the biggest in the British history.
Though the 30-year-old, Haye, who has won 25 of his 26 fights including 23 by the way of a knockout, said he may not retire if he gets an early fight against Wladimir’s brother Vitali Klitschko.
