Wladimir Klitschko silences David Haye by a unanimous decision victory – Boxing news
Wladimir ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ Klitschko, who now is the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO world heavyweight champion, outclassed the brash Londoner David Haye in a unification bout on Saturday, July 2, 2011.
The Hayemaker, Haye, who previously held the WBA belt, did a lot of talking before the fight. He claimed he will knockout Klitschko within six rounds and then will defeated his elder brother Vitali Klitschko, who is known as Dr. Ironfist.
However, every claim of his was proved wrong on the fight night, as Wladimir totally outclassed him in the ring and won the bout by a unanimous decision in front of a crowd of over 60,000 people at the Imtech Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
The 30-year-old Brit, Haye, tried his best but could not find his knockout punch whereas Klitschko on the other hand used his vast experience. He completely dominated the fight to earn him a unanimous decision by scores of 115-113 on the judges’ scorecards.
Haye, who said he is going to knock Klitschko’s head off as he wanted to see the robot malfunction, was seen in a defensive mode most of the time. Haye was seen losing his balance, as he slipped many times in the ring while trying to land a punch.
However Haye, who added a second defeated to his record, landed a few punches especially in the 3rd and 12th rounds but still they were not enough to even affect the 6 ft 6.5” Ukrainian giant.
Haye previously announced his retirement, as he said he does not have any plans to fight upon getting 31 but now it cannot be said for sure whether he is going to retire because he is currently looking for a rematch against Klitschko, who has successfully
defended his titles for the eleventh time in a row.
Let’s see if Haye gets a rematch with Klitschko since he does not have any title left to defend now.
