Wladimir Klitschko to David Haye: we’ll see whose head and b---s are cut off in the ring
David Haye’s weekend performance has caught the attention of heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko and inspired some fiery comments.
Klitschko was all but disgusted with the WBA heavyweight title bout at the MEN Arena Saturday, which lasted three rounds and saw challenger Audley Harrison throw only one punch.
Harrison was awarded $1.6 million for his efforts.
"I watched the fight and they were scared chickens for three rounds," Klitschko said to the Daily Mail. “It was not even as good as a British championship fight; it was more like a street fight. It reminded me of the fight with [Nikolai] Valuev, when Haye
also ran around and ran around like a scared chicken, trying to get up speed and hopefully land something.”
The Klitschko brothers, who hold three of the four relevant heavyweight titles, have been trying to engage Haye in a bout for the better part of a year. Negotiations failed on two occasions, with Haye pulling out of a bout citing an injury, and then later
decrying that unfair contracts were stopping him from signing on with either of them.
Physical tension reached a head when Haye appeared uninvited at a Wladimir Klitschko press conference and insisted he was going to cut the brothers’ heads off when he got into the ring with them.
Referring to the scene and Haye’s recent bout, Wladimir had an apt response: “David Haye needs us. He built his reputation on our names. To say he was going to cut our heads off was outside any sporting or human decency. No matter who you are. We'll see
whose head and balls are cut off when he gets in the ring.”
Klitschko added: “I'm getting tired of the nonsense and the lie from his side that [our fight] contract is not right. He promised to fight us once, then he promised Chelsea stadium. People forget that. We [were] supposed to fight in June but he couldn't
deliver anything.”
