Wladimir Klitschko will come strong as always after surgery, it is only a matter of time
Wladimir Klitschko, the Ukrainian heavyweight boxer, also a long-reigning heavyweight champion, has found himself embattled by a kidney stone. The imposing 6 feet 5 inches’ boxer will remain out of the boxing scene for a while.
Currently aged 35, some pundits are viewing this hiatus as a way towards a career end for the boxer. However, the defending titlist for the heavyweight champion will certainly be back in the ring with his powerful punches and grandiose appearance.
There appears to be some sanity in the apprehensions of some pundits because his first surgery did not turn out to be the final and a completely effective one. The stone is still stuck there and the boxer will undergo another surgery to be able to make an
appearance back in the ring.
He had to get his fight postponed due to his unavailability. Nevertheless, this is not say, that the kidney stone problem has taken a toll on him to an extent that will force him to take retirement from the ring.
"The pain? It was 10 times worse than giving birth. That's what the doctor said it is like, and my mom said it, too, and she had both," the Ukrainian commented.
"But I am so disappointed about the fight, because everything was set up so good. I feel bad for Mormeck. I know what it is like when you prepare for the fight and your opponent pulls out. On the other hand, I was trying to save it, but there was no chance.
I have too much medicine in my body, two surgeries and a lot of painkillers."
The boxer has not let the pain undermine his future ambitions and engagements in the ring. He is upbeat about his future and believes that he is already in a good shape, and would soon make a comeback to the ring.
Given this, it would be quite naïve to forecast the end of his career.
Admittedly, his competitors are equally strong enough to wrest the hegemony, he currently enjoys on the boxing scene. The likes of Tyson Fury, Robert Helenius, Dereck Chisora, and Alexander Povetkin are rife with talent and power, and would not let an opportunity
to beat Klitschko go.
Klitschko is a rock-solid and determined professional boxer. It takes immense courage and determination for one to retain the coveted heavyweight title for too long (7 years), but he has done it. He has proved himself time and again on the ring.
He has stayed clear of controversies more than other boxers. He is focused and always seeks to ply trade in the ring, not off it.
Ever since bursting on the boxing scene as a heavyweight boxer in 2000, he has had a total of 59 fights, winning 56 while losing only 3. He has won 49 fights by knock-out---here lies the reason for his greatness. It is often hard for other boxers to stand
him for too long in the ring.
His style of play is akin to that of Lennox Lewis as he also tends to allow his opponent enough time in the ring and attack precisely. Surely, the competition and demand of the modern-day boxing has grown tougher, but Klitschko will most certainly survive
it all.
He will surely be back in the ring to give his opponents some lessons, and excitement to the spectators and fans.
