Wmv burning to dvd+r?

I am downloading a movie in wmv format, can i then burn this straight onto a dvd-r or do i need to convert it.

  6. You will have to convert. A normal DVD player is not going to be able to recognize the wmv format. Use a program like ConvertX.

    The process can be fairly slow depending on the speed of your computer. I think this program you will have to purchase, but I'm pretty sure there are freeware apps out there somewhere. Just search google for convert WMV to DVD.
