  1. I would reccomend a flat coated retreiver.

My friend ownes one she loves him and they fit all your descriptions.

  2. Possibly a Border collie.   They are very active animals and are very affectionate.  They also live to please the owner.

  3. I would say an American Pit Bull Terrier. They seem to fit all of your descriptions and did you know that Pitbulls actually scored higher on the temperament test than GSD's did?

  4. Border Collies or Australian Shepherds :)

  5. Short haired German Shepard or a well Trained Dobermen pinscher.

not small dogs or goldens for they have long hair. also a dog that loves to please the owner is the Pitbull.

  6. Tiffany, I like the look of a american pit bull terrier. They are so cute.

  7. I'd say an APBT. Mainly because while all those dogs fit the bill, Pit Bulls are going to be the easiest to find, and one of the easiest to groom (maybe even easier than the Sennenhund, but it's close). Beyond that, there are literally TONS of Pit Bulls that are just aching for homes.

  8. I'm big on Australian Cattle Dogs (Red/Blue Healers) medium size (40-45lbs) VERY smart, easy to train  and love to exercise (medium to high energy), also VERY loyal. I've had several and they are my favorite breed. Good longevity, my last healer pasted away at 17

  9. hi,

to know what type of dog will suit you, you can use this dog finder match up http://tinyurl.com/6gkcok

the goal here is to help you figure out what type of dog best suits you and your personality. The results of the match up will suggest certain breeds.

    hope this helps

  10. I suggest a english setter, they are laid back and cool, but can be hyper and happy whenever! They are totally happy with sitting at your feet taking a nap or going out (with proper exercise of course).  They are moderately difficult to train because they are a hunting dog and have their instincts, but they are not terrible.

To be honest, you say you want a med. to high energy dog, but that you only want to do max. 30 minutes a day walking....Any dog would need more than that and up to 4 hours a week rollerblading. If rollerblading you also need to be very careful of your dog, he needs to be very well trained and you need to be aware of where you are. In that situation (n blades) the dog really does have control if it is a larger breed, you are on wheels, they are not.

You sound like a good owner from what you want in a dog, whatever you choose make sure to buy from a reputable breeder. Check up on the breed standard (should show temperament, training difficulty, look standards, and owner suitability). Be sure it is the right breed for you and grooming even short haired dogs is harder than it seems, remember that!

  11. Of the three given, my personal pick would be the GSD.  I admit I am not familiar with the third breed, but I assuming it is rare and finding quality breeders of rare dogs without shipping a dog thousands of miles is a challenge.

APBT could work and you could certainly find one easily but they have some extra challenges.  One is breed-specific bans in some areas, so be sure you can actually have one.  The other issue is the potential for dog-dog aggression in some APBTs and if you are going to out and about they take extra responsibility - not fair but reality.  Since you have been on the Bad Rap site, I'm assuming you are familiar with the issues.  In my experience too, GSDs are a bit higher on the athletic scale for the activities you like to do and score very high in the trainability department.
