Question:

WoW Capable Computer Build (Budget)?

I would really appreciate if someone would pick out parts to build a new computer that could run World of Warcraft at 60FPS and not have all settings on low (medium is fine). Problem is I'm on a budget and only have about $300 to spend (including tax+shipping) might be able to go a few dollars over but not much. Thanks.

  1. Good luck with that, lol

  2. Do yo need a monitor and Keyboard and mouse?

  3. your not going to get much for 300.00....i would look for a refurb on newegg or tigerdirect......sign up for both newsletters becuz there always having specials and sales on comp. hardware and pc's......ya never know, ya might find something for that price range.....scott

    newegg----http://www.newegg.com/Index.aspx?CMP=KNC...

    tigerdirect----http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...

  4. tigerdirect.com is good for cheap computer parts, though I doubt you could get one for what you want for 300, I would say 400 is the minimum

  5. Ouch, not much of a budget!  Don't know if that's possible unless you've got spare parts to migrate from another machine.  You'll definitely have to go AMD...

    Processor - $66

    Motherboard - $50

RAM - $57  (down to $27 after rebate)

Video card -  $63 (down to $53 after rebate)

    DVD burner - $25

    Hard drive -  $39

    Case/PSU - $45 (down to $35 after rebate)

Total is $345 before shipping- down to $305 after rebates

You could save another $16 by going with an X2 4400+ processor instead of the 5000+ but that's a noticeable drop.  But I guess if all you're doing is WoW, either CPU is fast enough.

Definitely don't go any cheaper on the video card- you enter the territory of much weaker cards like the GeForce 8500GT and slow GDDR2 versions of the Radeon 2600 Pro.

Obviously, you'll need a copy of Windows XP or Vista  already sitting around somewhere.
