What tool should I use to tighten my ceiling fan blades? I already tried a bunch of screwdrivers but they don't fit.

  1. You might not need to tighten the blades, but need to use a blade balancing kit.  We just installed 4 ceiling fans all of which wobbled when on high speed.  The fans all came with a balancing kit which solved the problem.  You simply clip the blades one by one run the fan to determine which one is out of balance.  Once you determine that, you place the clip in different places on that blade until the wobbling stops and then install the weight in that place. BTW all 4 of the ceiling fans took a phillips screwdriver to install the blades, 2 were Harbor Breeze and 2 were Hampton Bay.  You can contact either company on their websites if you know the manufacturer for information on your fan if either of those companies made your fan.  (They both responded to our questions within 24 hours and both have toll free customer service numbers)

  2. Good luck the best way to stop a fan from wobbling is to throw it away and buy a new one

  3. I have installed several hundred fans in New Jersey (all different brands) and at least 30 here in Spain. They all required a #2 Phillips blade screwdriver.

People are finding out that the newer square tip s***w doesn't slip and is a better system although I haven't seen one, the reviews support this system as the best yet.

    Good luck ! ! !

  4. You'll need to get up there and take a look.  Check the owners manual if you have it.  Check the manufacturer (Hunter as an example), and maybe check their website and see if they know.

I've used a Phillips, a flathead, and even an allen wrench on blades (depending on the model).

  5. The ceiling fans that I've seen have standard phillips screws. Can you describe the screws or name the brand of the ceiling fan?
