Wolfgang Holzhauser assures Michael Ballack of a special send-off - Bundesliga News
After being linked with an exit from BayArena at the end of this season, Michael Ballack has been promised a special farewell by the club’s CEO, Wolfgang Holzhauser.
The chairman asked the DFB officials to prepare a special stage for the veteran, who has been a consistent performer throughout his 11-year international career.
Holzhauser was talking amidst reports linking the midfielder out of BayArena at the end of this term. These speculations prompted the CEO to announce a perfect farewell for the former Chelsea player.
According to the chairman, the 35-year-old is certainly one of the most committed servants for Germany and deserves to get a special farewell. He was of the view that a special stage must be illuminated for the veteran and a proper ceremony should be conducted
that would include all the current and former German players and the officials.
While talking to Express, the CEO further enthused:
"After such a great career, Michael Ballack should not be allowed to simply disappear. I'll talk to him again, about whether it is possible for a great farewell - this would involve the national team."
Ballack is expected to end his career in USA with one of the Major League Soccer clubs, as LA Galaxy seem favourites to land the midfielder at The Home Depot Centre. It is believed that Ballack would be the perfect replacement for the outgoing English attacker,
David Beckham.
Leverkusen officials have already confirmed about Ballack’s desire of playing elsewhere at the end of this season, with age catching up fast on the midfielder.
However, the player has been a regular starter for his club in the Champions League and has also enabled them to progress through to the next round as group E runners-up.
The veteran German has made 98 appearances for Germany during his 11-year international career, bagging 42 goals in return. He retired from international football last year.
Ballack is currently into his second spell at BayArena but hasn’t had the same success this time around.
