Wolfsburg's Hasan Salihamidzic gutted with defeat to Bayern Munich - Bundesliga News
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic has expressed frustration at his team’s narrow defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich. The two teams locked heads on Saturday, August 13, at Volkswagen Arena where Bayern edged past the hosts to bag their first win
of the 2011/12 campaign.
Wolfsburg Manager Felix Magath retained the same squad that had defeated FC Koln in the opening week. The Bavarians were without Dutch winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521. Franck Ribery earned himself a place in the starting line-up.
Midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic was angry at the defeat especially since it came after conceding a stoppage time goal. At the same time, he praised his fellow midfielders for putting up a smart show throughout the 90 minutes and reckoned that his team deserved
at least a draw. He held himself responsible for letting the Reds score that goal and has vowed to rectify his mistake in the club’s next game.
While talking to a local sports channel, the midfielder added, "We’re obviously gutted and I’m incredibly angry. We played well and we scored a perfectly good goal, but at the end of the day, Bayern are in the changing room not quite knowing how they’ve
won.”
“I thought we controlled it well in the first half. We might have let the ball do more of the work, and that would have given us more space, although that’s never going to be easy against Bayern. I think a draw would have been the right result." He concluded.
Magath was also disappointed at his team’s loss especially after holding off the Bavarians for 90 minutes. He was furious with his defence for letting in a late goal in the stoppage time that killed all the hard work done by his side.
The manager reckoned that his team could have taken the lead in the early moments of the first half and rued the missed opportunities in the second half. The former Bayern manager vowed to make a strong return in the club’s next game and urged his side not
to lose heart. He was pleased with the fact that Die Wolfe stood firm in front of the Bundesliga giants and fought until the very last whistle.
