Wolfsburg's coach Magath pleased to see his team victorious against Werder Bremen - Bundesliga News
Wolfsburg’s coach, Felix Magath, has expressed his delight over his team’s 1-0 win over Werder Bremen. This win has earned Die Wolfe a life-line to stay up the table and avoid from being
getting relegated from the German top division. Wolfsburg travelled away to the Weserstadion on Friday, April 29, to take on Bremen and edged past them to earn a vital win which could prove to be the most important win in terms of their season.
The coach mentioned that Wolfsburg played a lot better on the night and had a number of chances especially on the counters, but failed to capitalise on any. He wished to see his team scoring
more goals, but was somewhat relieved with the fact that his team notched up a win which could be the season's saving one.
The 57-year-old further added, “We have not won undeservedly here [in Bremen],” said the coach. “We had good counter-attacks on occasions and the margin could have been higher. We started
well and in the second-half we were more determined.”
Die Wolfe's defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arne-Friedrich-c6622, though seemed unhappy with his team’s performance and believed that Wolfsburg could have come out with a much better show then they actually did. The
defender did praise the efforts of his team’s back four who stood absolutely firm and denied Bremen from scoring on their home soil.
Friedrich further stated, “We did not play well but in a relegation fight we must use all our resources. Today we took an important step [toward saving top-flight status in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904] and maybe
next week we will take another step.”
Wolfsburg got an early lead in the 22nd minute when the defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sascha-Riether-c32598, earned his team a vital advantage. Since that point Die Wolfe were determined to sit back and
protect that one goal advantage.
Wolfsburg are currently 14th in the League table with 35 points and find themselves just one point above the relegation zone with three games left to play in the season.
Magath’s side will be in action against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday, May 7 at the Volkswagen Arena.
