Wolfsburg eyeing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arne-Friedrich-c6622’s injury – Bundesliga news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 have been forced to reconsider their options at the back after a back injury has ruled out defender, Arne Friedrich, for up to six weeks. The club weren’t aware of the player’s situation and only came to know during the late hours of Tuesday
while the entire team was attending a preseason training.
Wolfsburg manager, Felix Magath, was left to ponder over the club’s remaining options at the back. He expressed disappointment at the centre-back’s injury and hoped to have the player back amongst the ranks sooner rather later. At the same time, Magath also
hinted towards the arrival of Eintracht Frankfurt defender, Marco Russ, during the ongoing summer transfer window. The former Schalke manager enthused that the club would certainly require cover for the injured defender and Russ seems to be the best available
option.
Friedrich was on an international duty with the German national side when he complained of a back injury. The 32-year-old took the matter lightly but as the injury aggravated he had no other option then to reveal it to the Wolfsburg manager. The player was
left dejected over the entire situation and urged the club’s medical staff to work harder upon his treatment. The Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hertha-BSC-c39521 player hoped to make an early recovery but at the moment has been advised a six-week rest by the doctors.
Russ, on the other hand, seemed ready to tie knots with Die Wolfe. The 25-year-old was looking forward to play in the top division after Frankfurt got relegated at the conclusion of the 2010/11 season. The player was confident about his first team chances
and reckoned that it won’t him take him long to cement his place in the club’s line-up even after Friedrich’s return to the starting XI.
Russ joined Frankfurt’s senior side in 2004 and has mustered 13 goals until now from 147 Bundesliga appearances. The defender is yet to appear for the German national side.
Friedrich, on the other hand, joined Wolfsburg in 2010 and managed to appear in 15 Bundesliga games last season. The centre-back has 82 international caps under his belt to go along with a solitary goal.
Wolfsburg will start their 2011/12 Bundesliga campaign on Saturday, August 6 against FC Koln.
