The former Bundesliga champions hope to emulate the second-half of the 2008/09 season and get into the top four.
Felix Magath’s side were in ninth place when they went into the winter break in the 2008/09 season. The team then accumulated a staggering 43 points from the second-half of the campaign to win their first ever league title.
Magath hopes to recreate that scene and wants the club to show a massive improvement in the next year. He admitted that he had very little support when he said that he wants to win the league, during his first managerial stint
with the club. The tactician admitted that people laughed at him but the results showed a year later and the team had achieved the impossible.
The former Schalke manager added that the team needs the backing of the fans at this point of time. He admitted that the players need confidence and for that the supporters have to be at their best.
“I have always said that I want to be successful and everybody laughed at me when I arrived in Wolfsburg and I said that I wanted the stadium to be full every week. Two years later, we were champions and the stadium was always
brimming,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician has set his sights on winning the league at the end of the season. He is targeting the almost impossible feat of winning the title after the poor start the team has had. He insists that the team needs some good players
in the winter transfer window and stability can be achieved with that. He has remained hopeful of an impressive second period of the campaign.
“You have got to have goals and of course I want to win the league. I am absolutely convinced; in the second half of the season, we will get more points, have a better team and be more stable - we are going to go a long way up
the table,” he concluded.
