Knowing about Manchester City’s bottomless pit of wealth, Wolfsburg have put a £38m price tag on star striker, Edin Dzeko. This will come as blow for even Manchester City who were not willing to pay more than £30m for the Bosnian.
Manchester City have long been linked with the big centre forward and failed to lure the striker in the summer. City Boss Roberto Mancini is a huge admirer of the Wolfsburg man and has identified him as the one to lead his attack alongside Carlos Tevez.
The Bosnian has been in top goal scoring form yet again this season. He has fired 11 goals in 18 games this season. City are looking to offload some of their fringe ‘superstars’, such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526. This will make room for the
high wages to be paid to the Bosnian.
However, City continues to keep a close eye at Fernando Torres’ situation at Liverpool. They believe that Torres is not happy at the current situation at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and is not a fan of Roy Hodgson’s tactics. So, in case they fail to land Dzeko, the Spaniard
will be their next target.
Dzeko has continued to score goals in a rather dismal season for Wolfsburg under former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager, Steve McClaren. He scored again this week in their 3-1 cup defeat by Energie Cottbus.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 has meanwhile told Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak that Dzeko could prove to be the difference between finishing top of the league or mere fourth position.
Wolfsburg are under no pressure to sell, as the club is in healthy financial situation. However, it is the pressure from the player and his agent, both of whom have put it in writing that a move to Manchester City is what they want.
Dzeko is likely to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 but whether it will be in January transfer window is still unknown. However, McClaren wants to keep his hit man, at least until the end of the season, but knows it might be out of his hands.
“We are hopeful that Edin remains. He is a world-class striker, but we are in the football business and nothing is 100 per cent sure,” McClaren told reporters.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 is still establishing himself and is not a target man like the Bosnian, who has the experience of scoring goals at the highest level, for a couple of seasons now.
