http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-c29254 Helmes has insisted that he will stay with the club and fight for his place in the starting line-up despite being linked with a move out this summer. He is hopeful of a good upcoming season under new
manager Felix Magath and is confident to make his mark in the next campaign.
Patrick Helmes’ future has been subject to widespread speculation since the arrival of two strikers Mario Mandzukic and Srdjan Lakic in this summer’s transfer window. The forward is linked to a return to Bayer Leverkusen and is
expected to lose his place in starting line-up as the above mentioned duo will start for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 next season.
However, Helmes claimed that he will stay and is determined to perform for the club next season. He insisted that many believe that he will have to warm the benches in the upcoming season but anything can happen.
The former FC Koln striker added that he is working hard to achieve full fitness and play his part for the team.
“Everyone is invited to believe that the first team will have Mario Mandzukic and Srdjan Lakic as strikers. But I am fit and possibly some people will look stupid when another one plays in the first team,” he was quoted as saying
in an interview.
The German international added that he is confident of a great comeback next season and maintained that Felix Magath is aware of that fact. He stated that he still has three more years left on his current contract and has no plans
whatsoever to leave the Wolves.
“I believe in my chances and I know the manager is aware of my work ethic in training. I do not have to walk away. Much is written, day in and day out. I am contracted to this club for three more years. No-one told me I have to
leave,” he concluded.
Patrick Helmes made only three appearances for the Wolves last season and scored once in the process.
