Wollworths are doing an amazing deal on the ps3.......?

for only £375, with games and dvd's - also amazing deals on x-box 360 and ds lite - do retailers actually make profit on things like these?

Pile em high - sell em cheap.  Yes quantity discounts make it profitable.

they are called 'loss leaders-they loose out on that but it gets people into the shop, looking at other stuff.Other games etc.

In this case, Its only being sold at the price they got it for, not for a whopping profit like everywhere else is selling it at. So they are not loosing out over all!

if you're thinking of buying a playstation 3 you should out this site first. they give you a ps3 for FREE! all you need to do is complete a few quick tasks for them.

They should be, but you'd never guess from looking at how my shares in Woolworths have been doing since I bought 'em =(

Usually they don't make a profit on the consoles themselves (Microsoft took a loss on the original Xbox) - but the more units you can get out there, the more developers you attract to make games, and its selling the games that makes the cash.

The retailers are the only ones that make a profit on the consoles- most of the cost of games go to these middle men vultures as well
