Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy delighted with derby win over West Bromwich Albion
Wolverhampton Wanderers boss, Mick McCarthy, regards victory over West Bromwich Albion as a welcome step towards his team’s survival in English Premier League. The passionate coach was talking after his team’s smashing 3-1 win over their Black Country neighbours.
The match was played on Sunday, May 08, at the Molineux.
The 52-year-old hailed the commitment of his side and was delighted to see his team climb out of the relegation zone for the time being. McCarthy, though, urged his side not to relax as the job is not over yet. He reminded them of their target, which is
to stay in the top flight.
The Wolves were put into the lead by in-form striker, Steven Fletcher, who was later substituted after having grabbed a brace. The first of the two goals came in the 15th minute, when Adlene Guedioura chested down the ball for the striker, who
netted in a simple chance. It was Guedioura himself on the 28thminute mark who brought http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 two goals up against a depleted looking Baggies defence. Fletcher finally closed doors upon the rivals in the 47th minute, when he eased past
the Baggies defence and placed the ball in the back of the net to make it 3-0.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Republic-of-Ireland-c2987 boss added, "It's easy to say but of course that was a huge result. What matters though is what happens on 22 May, not 8 May and I've said that all along. We are out of the bottom three now and we want to stay out of the bottom
three but there are two huge games coming up."
He admitted that his position at Molineux might be under pressure but confirmed that he is enjoying his time as the Wolves manager. When quizzed about his future at the club, McCarthy said that he would accept whatever decision the officials come out with,
but wanted to focus upon the job at hand for the moment.
With two games left to be played in the campaign, the Wolves will make one final trip to Sunderland next week before ending the campaign against Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/May-22-c39884 at Molineux Stadium.
