Wolverhampton Wanderers boss feeling the pressure
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy has admitted he is starting to feel the pressure building up around him.
Wolves was defeated last weekend away at Blackpool in a result that leaves the side second bottom of the table with only nine points after 14 games. McCarthy says the pressure is increasing with every
game.
"All managers know in football, it's about getting results.
If you're not getting results the pressure mounts. It's a huge fight," McCarthy said on the Sky Sports website.
One the one hand it is encouraging to see McCarthy actively speaking and thinking about different ways to get Wolves playing more productively. The club has been playing
some good football over recent weeks but has not managed to produce results and points.
On the other hand there is a danger side that McCarthy could crumble under the pressure around him. The Premier League is vital in the modern game in terms of keeping the
future of clubs like Wolves safe.
"It was before Saturday [a fight]. That result made it even harder.
I worry about what we can do to make sure we start getting some points," he added.
It is also important for Wolves to get some points on the board to stop negative feelings from spreading around the club. It can be very easy for staff and players to let
negative feelings seep into the team.
This will mean players are unhappy and will not be training and playing with a smile on their faces. Experienced sides will see this and will go for the win aggressively
against Wolves.
"It can become doom and gloom very quickly but we have to make sure that doesn't
happen," said the Wolves boss.
Betting advice
The odds on Wolves staying up do not look great at this point in time. This is because the club is level on points with West Ham United and the Hammers have arguably been the
worst side in England this season. However, McCarthy has enough experience to pull the club from the jaws of gloom.
