Wolverhampton ready to host Monday’s card
The Wolverhampton horseracing track is quite ready to host all the races scheduled for Monday, February 6, according to the course clerk, Emma Marley.
Due to heavy snowfalls, and falling temperatures, the ground managers had to call off Saturday’s meeting halfway. Throughout Sunday, the track received continuous snow and frost, and there was great uncertainty about the Monday’s meeting.
However, Marley revealed last night that the ground staff had taken heavy operations to clean the course, hoping that tomorrow’s card would be held as per schedule. He also told that there was no need to make any pre-race inspection.
Marley said, “It was 2C overnight and warmer temperatures have moved in. I think the weather on the west coast is better than anywhere else in the UK.”
She added, “It was 7C on Saturday, which helped massively with the thaw, and we are perfectly raceable now. It will be 3C tonight and is due to be dry with sunny spells on Monday. We have no inspection planned."
Another clerk, Fergus Cameron, reported, “We will take the snow off and then work the track. In view of our current position an inspection is sensible, but if the forecast is correct we are confident of racing.”
Wolverhampton is set to host eight races on February 6, starting from 2:20. The race card includes:
1: Bet At Blue Square Handicap Cl6 5f20y
2: Racing Excellence All Weather "Hands And Heels" Apprentice Series Handicap Cl6 1m5f194y
3: Enjoy The Punters Package Group Offer Selling Stakes Cl6 7f32y

The ongoing intense cold wave across Europe has been hampering most of the major races at British tracks, and it is likely to cause more damage in the coming days. This is a source of sheer unrest for the horseracing market which is suffering huge
loss.
