i know that wolverines are walking cans of whoop a*s but could they really handle a black bear?

I'm not talking about chasing a scared bear up a tree as some have done i am talking about a fight the big bad bear doesn't back down from.

  1. First off, judging from videos like this...

Yes, a Wolverine does indeed have what it takes to at least scare a bear off. And I believe 2 or 3 Wolverines could take down a Black Bear. Why? I don't know. Wolverines are brave, you've got to give them that. They will challenge (and occasionally win) a larger predators kill.

But two animals in good health, the bear would probably win, though it may come out so scratched up that it could die at a later date from infection or blood loss.

  2. A Black bear would destroy a wolverine hands down. Wolverines are small in comparison they are also shy and have poor vision, they are fast but they are surprise attackers so if they were to face a black bear it would be destroyed

  3. A wolverine simply doesn't have enough cans of whoop *** to take down a black bear. Black bears are about 5 times bigger them or even more, so they wouldn't have a chance.

But, if there were, say, at least 5 or 6 wolverines and one black bear . . . then MAYBE they could take them down.

  4. Healthy animals aren't vicious or irrational; they just want to survive.

If in some unlikely circumstance they did have a real fight, a large black bear can weigh up to 15x what a large wolverine weighs (40lbs vs 600lbs).  I think its unlikely that a black bear would be killed by a wolverine.

In reality, one animal would decide to leave the other alone.  Being seriously wounded in the wild is likely a death sentence.  Fighting pointlessly is unnecessarily risky.
