Wolverhampton Wanderers beat West Bromwich Albion 3-1 – English Premier League news
Wolverhampton Wanderers produced a performance of their lives to boost their survival hopes as they beat West Bromwich Albion by 3 goals to 1 at the Molineux Stadium.
Wolves went into the match stuck in the relegation dogfight and 2 points adrift of safety in the 19th spot in the English Premier League table.
But they knew that a win against West Brom will take them out of the bottom three and that’s exactly what it did.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 started the game brightly and in no time were ahead in the game. Mick McCarthy chose for an uber attacking side and his tactics paid off as his side raced onto a 2-0 half time lead.
Former Burnley striker Stephen Fletcher was the first one to score on the night when he slotted home from close range to put his side up with just 15 minutes on the clock.
Adlene Guedioura was the next one to score just before the half hour mark to put his side two up and in cruise control of the tie.
The teams went into the breather with the score 2-0 in favour of the hosts. The second half also started in the same way as the first ended.
Soon after the restart in the 47th minute, Stephen Fletcher scored his second of the night to put his side 3-0 up and with that goal, he took his season’s tally to 4.
The Wolves had started the game needing three points and just after the break, they were in dreamland as they had scored three without a reply and were on their way out of the relegation zone.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 however reduced the deficit from the penalty spot when he scored his 15th of the season but in the end that wasn’t enough as Wolves held on for the much needed win.
In the dying minutes of the game, Shane Ward had a chance to make it 4-1 and seal the game for his side but he fired his shot just wide off the post.
With the win, the Wolves are now in the 17th position in the League table and have their fortunes in their own hands. If they win their next two matches, they surely will be playing in the English top flight next season.
