Wolves fell short by only one point in a close game with Kings
A thrilling and exciting basketball match between Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves ended at Target Center, Minneapolis. By the end of the game Wolves fell short by only one point and the final score remained, Wolves 116 and Kings 117.
The Wolves were full of energy and aggression but the element of defence seems to be missing due to which they lost their 2010 season opener.
Beside the absence of the star point guard, Tyreke Evans, Kings presented their fans with an arousing match. The Wolves were also short-handed, as they were playing the game in the absence of Martell Webster and Jonny Flynn.
Carl Landry remained the prominent player, who had 22 points and 11 rebounds and then came Francisco Garcia, who had also scored 22 points for the Kings.
Michael Beasley remained unable to score any point for the Wolves in the first period. But later on Beasley accelerated and ended the game by scoring 17 points and 6-16 shooting and added 7 rebounds to the final score.
Lucas Robin "Luke" Ridnour had 20 points and six assists for the Wolves.
Kevin Wesley Love played less than nine minutes in the second half because Coach Kurt Rambis asked Tolliver to join the Wolves, finding him more suitable in terms of energy and defence.
Anthony Tolliver remained alive, kicking, and added 14 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks for Minnesota with his interesting back-and-forth movements.
Ridnour tried his level best to cut down the deficit and he hit a three-pointer with 56.6 seconds to go. However, all was in vain when Beno Udrih hit four free throws to secure a victory for the Kings.
Sacramento Kings will take on New Jersey Nets on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Prudential Center, Newark.
