Wolves look to get better of the Pirates of the League as VfL Wolfsburg host FC St. Pauli - Bundesliga Preview
Holger Stanislawski led his side to Volkswagen Arena on Saturday, 16 April to take on VfL Wolfsburg. Both teams are rooted in the drop zone and a win for either side would be of a huge advantage as it will boost up the survival chances for the upcoming 2011-12
season.

Wolfsburg are currently 16th in the Bundesliga with 28 points and will certainly look to sneak past St. Pauli to lift the curtains which are falling upon Felix Magath’s side. While playing at home, the Wolves have notched up four out of the six
wins while they have lost on five occasions out of the total of 13 losses. They have not been as impressive in front of goals as they would have liked, scoring only 32 goals in the season so far, while 42 have been scored against them. In their last five games,
the Wolves have not managed a single win. Three of their games ended in a loss while the other two ended in a draw.
FC St. Pauli
The Pirates of the League are 17th in the Bundesliga with as many points as of their opposition but the goal difference separate the two teams from each other. A draw will certainly not be enough for St. Pauli as they will remain behind Wolves
and their only option is to win. Stanislawski’s side have notched up eight wins in the season so far and four of them have come away from home. The fear factor is that, out of the 16 losses, nine have been away from home. The visitors have scored 30 goals
so far in the League while 49 have been netted against them. In their last five games, St. Pauli have been really worse as they lost all of those games including a 5-0 thumping at the hands of 1.FC Nurnberg.
Team News
VfL Wolfsburg
The home team will be going in with a 5-3-2 formation. Croatian international, Mario Mandzukic, and 32-year-old Brazilian, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tuncay-Sanli-c35618 might
go missing in an important encounter.
FC St. Pauli
Pirates of the League will be going in with a 4-2-3-1 formation. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Kessler-c34969 will be starting in goal for the visitors.
Players to Watch
The home team will count a lot upon their striking force but one man that will matter a great deal is the Brazilian midfielder, Diego. The 26-year-old has six goals under his belt so far from 26 appearances and will play a key role if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 are to edge
out their opponents.
St. Pauli haven’t been a great scoring side in this campaign and as a result would want their strike force to fire up ahead of a hugely intense fixture coming up. Mathias Lehmann could prove to be a difference in the midfield and it’s his accurate balls
inside the box which the visitors will require badly. The German has three goals from 27 appearances in the campaign so far.
Prediction
Considering the lack-lustre approach by both teams in the campaign, no team can be considered as a favourite. As Wolves are on their home soil, they stand a 50:50 chance of ending the game in a draw to St. Pauli by 1-1.
