CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - After more than a decade of federal protection, gray wolves will be fair game for hunters and ranchers in most of Wyoming when the animals are removed from the endangered species list on Friday.

Wyoming, Montana and Idaho will take over full management of the wolves, while the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is ending its wolf recovery effort.

In northwestern Wyoming, the state will continue a federal policy allowing ranchers to kill on sight wolves caught in the act of attacking their livestock or domestic animals. In the rest of Wyoming, the rules will allow people to kill wolves at any time and for any reason.

In Idaho, wildlife officials say no immediate changes would occur with delisting.

At least seven environmental groups say they intend sue the federal government next month to stop the delisting process.

  1. Cool I need a fur hat to go with my clubbed baby seal coat.  Hey, you should have seen the look on their little faces, before they gave one up for the team.

  2. The mistake was in re-introducing  wolves. They were wiped out for a reason in the first place.

  3. Why do wolves have more rights than people? It is just one specie killing another. Isn't that  the most natural thing in the world?

  4. I'd rather destroy American money bofore I would shoot animals.  And it's starting to look like more and more each day, our money is getting less and less valuable.  American money is no longer to be trusted.  This is just another reason to put a stop to moronish spreading out of endless populations and cities.

  5. Wolves were added to the endangered species list because they were endangered.

Wolves were removed from the endangered species list because they are no longer endangered.

Quit worrying about the wolves, and worry about the defenseless livestock, a rancher has every right to protect his or her property and will not lead to the extinction of wolves.

Wolves needed your protection once when they were vulnerable they don't anymore so you can mark that off your to-do list, it's done, complete, accomplished now move on to something else.

  6. Good answer, Ed.

Life is better without wolves in the neighborhood.

    We're serious, Babe.
