Wolves sign Jake Cassidy, Simon Davies stays with Fulham
English Premier League club Wolves have secured the services of the young striker Jake Cassidy from Airbus Uk Broughton. Following a trial for the club where the management was quite impressed by the teenager.
The two clubs have reportedly agreed on a fee for the 17 year old. The amount, however, has not been disclosed. The deal is for a two-year contract and has an option for a year’s extension at the end of 2 years.
Cassidy signed for Aribus earlier this summer, but did not play any competitive games for the club. He scored 7 goals for the Wales based club in pre-season and caught the attention of the Premier League side. He will be part of the development squad at Wolves.
Jez Moxey, the Chief Executive of Wolves, said that the club has always been on the lookout for exceptional young talent and Jake is definitely an ideal signing in terms of long term planning.
He said that they were not the only ones interested in attaining his services. Jez said that a few other Premier League clubs also showed interest but they are glad that Jake chose the Wolves.
Cassidy convinced the Wolves management when he played an integral role in the development squad’s 4-2 win against Telford last week.
He said that he is very excited about the move and was not expecting things to go this fast. He said that signing for Airbus was a big move for him but now the move to Wolves is a giant step forward for him.
Jake went on to say that the Wolves are a great club, and he feels very comfortable there. He added that everyone at the club has made him feel at home and he hopes to have a wonderful career with them.
Looking at some news coming out of London, Simon Davies has put pen to paper to extend his time at Craven Cottage. The former Wales international called it a day from international football in August and will now be at Fulham till the end of the 2013 season.
Simon Davies signed for Fulham from Merseyside club Everton back in 2006. He was plagued by a foot injury last season and a contract extension was put on hold till he fully recovered from the foot injury.
Davies said that he is very pleased to have extended his stay at the club. He said that last season was a dream run for the club and he is looking forward to another successful season under the new manager. He said that even though Roy Hodgson is no longer at the club the mentality remains the same and the whole squad is very optimistic about the new season.
He said that he has been in talks with the club for a while, and after some serious thought decided to stay. He said he would love to end his career at Craven Cottage and by the time he calls it a day from football he would try his best to make sure that Fulham is one of the top 4 clubs in English football. He added that it certainly is difficult to match the clubs that have insane amount of funds but with hard work and good work ethic Fulham can also mount a good challenge for Champions League football in the next two seasons.
