Wolves submits Molineux plans
Wolverhampton Wanderers has submitted plans to increase the capacity of Molineux to 37,000.
The stadium currently holds 27,000 but the club is pushing for expansion after a successful season in the Premier League last year. The council will review plans and the club will knock down the Stan Cullis
Stand if club officials get the green light.
Chief executive Jez Moxley said: "There has been a huge amount of work undertaken to get to this point and, once again,
I'd like to thank Wolverhampton City Council for their help. We want the proposed Molineux redevelopment to be a source of civic pride for everyone connected to the
club and the City."
Wolves are looking to consolidate as one of the main Premier League clubs. A bigger ground will have a number of benefits for the team, the fans and the club.
Big benefits
A bigger ground will enable Wolves to take a further 11,000 gate receipts. This will provide a huge cash injection from every home game. This money can be put back into
paying for the ground work and the existing facilities at the club.
The players should be inspired by a redeveloped ground. It will give them a chance to play on a bigger stage. Every player is likely to raise their performance levels playing
in a bigger arena and this should help the team's results.
The fans will benefit because there will be more chances to see the team play. An additional 11,000 seats should reduce waiting lists for tickets and allow less fortunate
fans to watch games.
Moxley added: "Wolves holds a unifying place at the heart of the community
and undoubtedly a successful Wolves has a positive ripple effect throughout the local area.
The Stadium will be rebuilt in high quality brick and will create an iconic sense of pride and place, whilst reflecting the Club's ambition for the future."
Betting advice
Back Wolves to do well this season. The club has a great manager in Mick McCarthy and very passionate fans. The side should finish comfortably above the relegation places
by next spring.
