OK so i've been watching the olympics for the past two weeks, amazing btw, but i missed the highlight from past olympics where they showed a lady that was running the marathon, and she barely made it past the finish line before she absolutely collapsed. i think it might have been from the athens games, but im not sure. if anyone has a clue, please help me out, because i'm trying to find the video of it, and i cannot. any clues would be greatly appreciated! thanks a bunch.

  1. I was hunting for the same info when I came across your question.  Unfortunately, it was unanswered . . . so I kept digging.  Turns out the woman's name is Gabriela Andersen-Schiess (sometimes misspelled), a Swiss marathon runner.  The footage comes from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.  Suffering from heat exhaustion, she waved off medical personnel--knowing she would be disqualified if she accepted their help--and made her amazing finish (placing 37th)!
