Woman that died at age 105 recorded?

Hi, my friend's mom said that her Grandma died at age 105 when she was 10, which was probably in the 1960s. Do you think she would be recorded anywhere? I will give you an EDIT on her name soon. Also do you tyhink her mom might die old? Because my friends grandma is 89 now. Is there a chance it runs in her family?

1.  I don't believe that any free on-line sites would have that information.  The best bet would be court house archives.  

2.  Yes, longevity does tend to run in families.  But, any individual can defy that propensity.
