  1. It is according to who it is coming from and in what context.

I use the word "chick" all the time.. the most recent being yesterday when my fiance called out "hey sweetie" as I approached him in the Target parking lot and the woman next him turned to him in disgust thinking he was talking to her.. and I kind of giggled and said quietly.. that chick thought you was talking to her..

I don't mind it if it is something like that.. but I don't want someone I don't know calling me baby, honey, or sweetie in a sexual way.. That REALLY makes me angry... "Hey sweetie, why don't you smile.." gah, that makes my blood boil.

However, my fiance calls me angel and sweetie.. and I love it.. it's so sweet coming from him.. I call him babe.. which is not really that sweet and is actually a carryover from what my best  (g*y) guy friend and I called each other in college.. but... he doesn't have to know that :)

  2. depends on the context

  3. Yes. My kindergarten teacher called us all "chickadees," but I'm not in kindergarten anymore, and no longer enjoy being referred to as a bird. Also, "chick" is usually used in the context of "that chick" or "some chick"; I'm me. I'm not just "some chick."

  4. Doesn't bother me at all.  I do however get a little irritated being referred to as someones "old lady"

  5. No, I don't mind.

  6. Yes it's so 90's

  7. no...I do prefer my name if someone knows me though. I had a very nice female teacher call her students Chickies, which I thought was very endearing.

  8. I'm indifferent to the term.

Terms like sweetheart, chick, honey, sugar, doll, babe, etc. all depend on the context they are said.

    ex. 1

    "How are you today sweetheart?"

    ex.2

"Would you be a sweetheart and make me some coffee?"

Example one wouldn't bother me, example two would annoy me to the point of almost being angry about it.

  9. No, b/c it's a common term in the metal community and I like metal guys. It's just how they talk.

  10. I know someone who says every time a guy refers to women as chicks she makes sure she uses the term weasel in place of men, males, etc. Would you dislike being called a weasel?

  11. I don't mind it. I don't see any negative connotation.  Well, I guess if you stretched it you could find one, but again...it'd be a stretch.

  12. I think the older a woman gets it is more irritating.  I didn't mind it in my teens, in my 20's it was kind of rude, now in my mid-30's it is juvenile.

  13. Actually I don't mind being called a chick as long as it's in good terms. I love when my boyfriend calls me his 'girl', as well.

  14. Yeah I am not a baby chicken and that's not my name!

Neither is s**y(even though my name sounds close to it but it's not) baby, sugar and any name you guys like to shout out to women crossing the street. It is really stupid and unnecessary. Stop that no women feel comfortable when you say that. Don't be surpprised if I don't answer back to you or I stick the middle finger at you.

Some women like it but most don't.

  15. It's annoying.  I'm not a "chick", a "babe", or any of that other stuff...I'm a "girl" or a "woman".

  16. Yes. I wasn't raised in a feedlot.

  17. I'd rather not be called a chick, as I'm a woman, but it beats broad, which is truly sexist.  And I don't want to be called sweetie (except by my boyfriend), honey, baby, or any of those cute names men like to call women.

  18. Not at all. I don't like being called a girl, though (I'm 26 fer cryin' out loud!)

  19. No, I don't.

  20. Yes, I intensely dislike being called a "chick" because I am not poultry and do not like to be refered to as poultry.

  21. YES a chick is a baby chicken, I am not a baby chicken I have a name
