Women's World Golf Rankings: Yani Tseng maintains number one position

The first major tournament of the 2012 season, Kraft Nabisco Championship, ended last week, with a minor change in world rankings.
First off the current world number one Yani Tseng has maintained ascendency over her rivals, as she stands firm at the top spot in the Women's World Golf Rankings.
Tseng has been superb in the current season as well, as she has not let any other LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) and LET (Ladies European Tour) player knock her off the top spot in the last 61 weeks.
Analysts said that the reason why Tseng has been able to have the upper hand in the world rankings is that she has been unbeatable in most of the tournaments that she has participated in so far.
Hailing from Taiwan, Tseng is a rising star and appears to have gained so much popularity that she is often compared with the 14-time major winner Tiger Woods.
The Taiwanese prodigy proved her mettle both on the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour. Having racked up 15 titles on the LPGA and 6 on the European Tour has helped Tseng keep her rivals at a distance.
The current season brought plenty of surprises for the current world number one, as she recorded 3 victories.
She registered her first triumph of the season at the Honda LPGA Thailand. She also won the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup and Kia Classic.
However, she could not win the first major of the 2012 season, Kraft Nabisco Championship. Nonetheless, she still managed to maintain her ranking.
Na Yeon Choi continues to hold the second spot followed by Suzanna Pettersen at number three and Cristie Kerr at number four.
However, I.K Kim, who performed amazingly well in the first major of the year, surged seven spots to settle for the 5th  — something analysts have regarded as a big shift in the world rankings.
Kim finished the Kraft Nabisco Championship as runner-up, she failed to make the putt in the playoff and lost to Sun Young Yoo.
Moreover, an even bigger shift was seen when the winner of the Kraft Nabisco, Sun Young Yoo climbed 22 spots to reach the 15th.
Paula Creamer, who was standing at the 8th before the first major championship of the 2012 season, tumbled to 10th. Ai Miyazato of Japan maintains her position at No. 7.
