Does martial arts really work in the case of an attack? Does anyone know of any cases where it has saved a woman's life?

  1. Sometimes, martial arts isnt always the best solution for self defense. It takes a long time to get effective, and in terms of using it solely for self defense, it can be inefficient because you are introduced a whole new way of life/movements/thinking/habits.

Obviously though, if you have been in martial arts for a long time, you have a solid chance of defending yourself more so than the average person.

If your only concern is self defense, best to stick to a few series of movements based on instinct, and review the way you live your life.

Do you often go out at night alone? Do you park in well lit areas? Do you know your neighbors well? Do you leave your windows opened?

Find a school specifically for women's self defense if this is your only concern, they will lead you in the right direction in the most efficient means possible.

  2. What you have never seen a Rambo film

  3. Yes to your first question.

    Yes to your second question.

Will a woman be able to defeat all attackers? The answer is no.

Will a well trained women martial artist be more likely to fend off an attack the answer is a resounding yes.

We know of one woman in the Philadelphia area who trained at our school and she was able to fend off an attack by a serial rapist. She is not a big person. She is around 5'4" and 125-135lbs.

  4. hap ki do      is a defensive martial art   , your attack is by backing away and blocking.   i think!

  5. martial arts doesnt have to always be Karate, Tae Kwon Do, or any of the sort. martial in martial arts means war. so any type of fighting or anything that can be used in battle, like hand to hand combat or a gun, is a martial art. which fighting ultimately leads to self defense.

in other words, if a woman carrys a taser, a knife or gun, if her stature isnt enough for a huge attacker, she is playing it smart. so to your questions, yes on all of them. self defense isnt always limited to hand to hand combat.

the key to this is practicing and training. for martial arts, stay in shape and try to perfect all you kno in hand to hand combat so it becomes second nature....or if u can't, take knife fighting seminars or a go to shooting ranges and practice

  6. Wearing killer boots help for kicking the attacker.
