  1. I'd be pissed off if there was a position like that, regardless of the looks or age of the man who got it!

  2. I bet few would be upset if they couldn't be in old man homosexual p**n flicks.

For some reason I don't think most people think about the not-so-fun positions when they think about this dilemma.

  3. Yes. Women are held to different standards than men are. Men are allowed to become middle aged, to go gray and to gain weight, but when women do this they are ridiculed for "letting themselves go."  Men are often taken more seriously as employees and given access to training and promotion that women are passed over for.

I believe this phenomenon reflects a society which has traditionally been dominated by males. Males are designed by nature to impregnate as many women as possible to ensure that their genes are passed along to future generations. That's why monogamy is harder for men.

Because of this programming, men tend to value a woman more highly if they see her as a potential s*x partner  who is of childbearing age. They prefer women who display the physical manifestations of youth and fertility, like large b*****s, a small waist, long, thick hair and plump lips.

On the other hand, If a woman is visibly beyond her childbearing years, not attractive, or bright and outspoken enough to challenge a man's image of himself as superior, men tend to be dismissive or even cruel toward them. For an example, look at Hillary Clinton. Do you think that if she were "hot" and had a more docile personality, she would have  been the object of all those vicious attacks?

Now I am not saying that every man is like this. Many men have evolved beyond their biological programming. But I'd say, based on my experience in the workplace, that the majority of men do prejudge women on looks and age.

When I first entered the workforce in the late 1960's, working women who had children were considered to be on the "mommy track" and not given the same opportunities as men who had wives to handle the domestic duties. This was because mommies needed to take a lot of time off to tend to sick children and so forth. This behavior was frowned upon.

That all started to change a generation later, when fatherhood suddenly became the new status symbol. I can remember being surrounded by dads at the office and listening to them having long, personal discussions about diapers, potty training and day care. I wouldn't have dared to do that 20 years ago. The men would have looked down their noses at me for bringing my personal business to work.

Yet when men started doing it, being obsessed with your children and taking days off for parenting duties was not only no longer frowned upon, it was bragged about and celebrated. The male bosses who were daddies themselves validated this behavior in a way they never would have done if only women took care of children.

    It's not fair.

  4. I guess I am not understanding the question: There are positions women would need surgery to be able to compete for, against ugly old men??
