....when you constantly hear how society is more bigoted against blacks than it is any other group?

How could racism against blacks be worse than sexism if we are going to have a black prez before a female prez when women make up over 50% of the population..blacks make up 14%?

  1. it doesnt p**s me off, but it does make me think

  2. Now why would that make me feel any different?

  3. Honestly, no.  I am a feminist, and my interest was not to necessarily have a female president,  but I sure wanted the most qualified.  I still firmly believe that Hillary Clinton was the most qualified, powerful and intelligent candidate and now I am not even going to bother to vote because I just don't have faith in Obama or McCain.  I think both of those candidates can only lead us into more problems with healthcare, sky-rocking gas and food prices, and ignorant laws against g*y marriage, women's rights and abortion.  MY reason?  McCain is too much like Bush (who really made a mess of things), and I think Obama lacks the knowledge and strength to make the best moves with America.  Regardless of the race or s*x, I just honestly felt Hillary was the best choice and somehow the whole vote got screwed up and I won't choose between two candidates who aren't going to do the best job and meet our needs.  I think Americans were too busy pushing to have a black man become president - instead of pushing for us to have the best person.  I am not mad, but I'm disappointed with how it is.   As for the SEXISM,  yes I agree with you that there is much more attention given to racism than to sexism.  But I think it's because a lot of men still run the show and there's a lot of women who are more focused on racism than they are with sexism.  That will change in time.

EDIT: The question was not initially precise, so based on the current election and its candidates, one can only expect to read opinions about Obama, Clinton and McCain.  It doesn't mean anyone is necessarily ignorant.  We're just offering an opinion based on how the question was worded.

  4. No.  What bothers me is that we probably won't have a GOOD president.  I don't care if we EVER have a black president, or a woman president.  I want who ever is best for our country, and right now I don't see that happening.

  5. I am black and female, and your question annoys me.  This is why white and black females have a hard time getting along, because many of you don't care about about how hard it is to be black in America.

  6. no as long as we don't have another bush. someone intelligent and not war hungry is needed. man or woman. black or white its a good thing change in the USA is needed

  7. the reason it bothers me is because women STILL don't understand how they can be their own worse enemy and particularly in this case, if they had acknowledged their collective power and voted for Hillary, we wouldn't be having this discussion - instead, we'd be a force to reckon with.

    Some day...

  8. I'm a feminist and I voted for Obama-I thought he was the better candidate. I didn't vote by gender or race-but by their views. Next stereotype about women and/or feminists you'd like to share?

  9. no it doesnt make me angry

  10. How can you not be asking about current politicians? They are who people are voting for. Policies are more important than who's proposing them, Obama is the best candidate America has. It doesn't matter that he's male, or that the other candidate was female. That's what not judging by gender means. No, it doesn't bother me. And it doesn't show racism is less prevalant than sexism either. It just shows Obama was considered better than Clinton by the majority of the population. You cannot generalise from one example.

  11. I choose to believe he was the better candidate. Also, as I'm not American and pay attention to the rest of the world, I know that many countries have already had a female leader (Have you ever heard of countries like England, Canada or Germany?) and more than that have had women close in the running.

Does it p!ss you off that America is so far behind these countries?

Plus, you can't measure the difference in racism and sexism by numbers. They are similar yet very different, often over lapping,  issues that can't be quantified by one presidential race--in ONE country.

    EDIT:

"There are way more women than blacks."

Did you know some people are both? What does that have to do with how people are treated anyways. And the fact that the US is going to have a black president has EVERYTHING to do with Obama! How can you not be talking about him?

  12. No. I voted for the black man over the woman.

    Sorry to disappoint you.

Edit: "I wasn't asking about the current politicians." Ooookkkaaay....you were asking about that OTHER black politician running for president against that OTHER woman politician in the primaries recently?
