Ok, i don't understand why there isn't any female formula 1 drivers. My dad says that they can't be 'cause of some rule or something. Is that true?

'Cause tbh, i'd quite like to be a formula 1 driver, but i'm not sure if i'd be allowed.

  1. I would say that it is only a matter of time and it will happen. There are quite a few young women drivers that have recently been working there way up through the ranks. In U.S. open wheel racing Danica Patrick has been a winner at the top level Indy car series and also in CART there was an English driver named Katheryn Legg. Hang in there, it will happen.

  2. You go girl.....!!!

  3. The only thing restricting the participation of women in F1 is their skills and abilities behind the wheel.  There have been a few over the years but none have been good enough to compete with the men.

  4. "well, women are bad drivers, they can't go into F1".

I'm sure you'll love my answer.

Exactly how many decades of motor racing should be enough to convince you that when it comes to F1 and the best drivers in the WORLD, women have their work cut out for them?

I can think of a few reasons why women would be at a disadvantage at this high level, I sure as h**l can't think of a single thing in their favor.

But I forgot, they can go down a drag strip fast and win the Coca Cola 666 once every 30 years, surely that's proof enough.

Now I'm not being very kind and I've always had my best luck with women keeping my mouth shut when I heard such c**p but I'm pretty fed up with hypothetical questions and wishful thinking of this nature.

Yes alright, sure , they can do it, they haven't done it so far because it's a male dominated world, boys play with toy cars and girls with dolls, well, look around you on the street.

And then jump for your life.

Either a guy doing 50mph over the speed limit will get you or some gal trying to control her 1000cc Fiat.

PS I've raced again some talented women drivers in karts(make that one talented driver) but when the going gets tough or they move to cars and especially F3 they're just another driver.

If I have to say "yes they have an equal chance to succeed in motor racing" in the interests of not being considered sexist then I couldn't care less if I am.

PS2 Yes, you can become an F1 driver, you just have to drive faster than a few millions of dedicated male drivers who are out to get you and each other.

If you want to become an F1 driver and still don't know such basic stuff such as "I'm I allowed?" you have a steep learning curve.

  5. There are no rules forbidding women to compete in F1, i think your dad is being a tad overprotective or annoyingly sexist! The only thing stopping us getting to the top of F1 are ourselves and advertisers. No matter what spin we put on it, Motor sport will always be marketed to men and women will be of secondary importance, even if the next Michael Schumacher is female!

    Good luck!

  6. go for it girl. there have been 5 women drivers in formula one, but as the others say they just weren't good enough to compete with the men. Maybe you can be the one to change that:)

  7. In order to be a good driver at this level,  (Form 1, NA$CAR, Indy) you really have to get involved at a VERY early age.

You have to have that BURNING desire, to do whatever it takes, and then follow through with it.

    Girls/women have the tools.

They just have to start early enough, racing Karts etc,

Have the drive, and find the sponsors / money to pay for the "hobby", which is is for many years, before you start to get any real  "returns".

  8. There's no rule against women in F1. There's just none that are talented enough right now.

  9. in f1, women are portrayed more as trophies
