Women Magazines and why do they exist?

Articles filled with how to waste time trying to look like the impossible person.

Articles filled with how to manipulate men and relationships.

Most of the women models are of a one or two races and almost all the men are white only.

God, we do people buy these things.

  1. It's the fashion and merchandising industries fantasy of the perfect woman is dictated by rich, white males. They design and own most fashion houses, the cosmetic industry, and advertising. They pick the high fashion models and decide how thin they should be and what they wear. These girls are the thin, coiffed, makeup wearing, clothes conscious women, men are attracted to. The fashion industry brainwashes and promotes the images your daughters grow up looking at and try to emulate beginning with their first Barbie doll with the hourglass figure. And don't put this all on women, because boys and men buy into this image driven market too. When's the last time you spoke to an overweight, dowdy, makeup fee woman?

  2. Well let's turn it around :)

Men magazines and why do they exist?

Articles filled with how to look buff and get a sixpack to get attention from women.

Artilces filled with how to find, date and even pleasure women.

Most of the men and women models are questionably pornographic..

God why do men buy these things? :P

Magazines and fashion trends exist because that's how life is. Fashion trends and fads need to exist to spice life up. Other articles inside magazines are there as fillers based on various surveys to find common interest topics amongst the majority of the readers.

  3. it's an easy way to make a LOT of money.

  4. i think you mean why do people buy these things

and as long as there is an audience and they buy, they will keep making them

    simple enough :]

  5. I can't believe women buy those things.  I see them when I buy grocery's and on the cover's they have "How to know what your man is thinking" "How to have incredible s*x in 10 days" "How to make him take you on a shopping spree"

I read this c**p and say to myself, "I hope I don't marry a girl who reads this garbage" and the people who do, have to be the most coincided, self-centered, ignorant people ever.

Girls that take this stuff they read in these magazines to heart, just makes me want to throw them off a 12 story building.

    Good Day

  6. mens magazines and why do they exist? I have seen articles depicting how to make a silent escape after a one night stand where he has gone back to hers, so that he wont have to ever see her again. Now thats not exactly great is it? You over estimate women, I wouldnt even know where to begin when it comes to manipulation and how to manipulate a guy. Its not out fault that guys like b*****s etc and we didnt ask for them....we dont consciously use s*x to control guys at all.....guys control themselves becasue they want that s*x so much, its nothing to do with us, and it does not prove a thing about manipulation..

Also...womens self esteem takes a nose dive in adolescence and it takes us years to feel comfortable with out bodies, the way that they are seen as more important than who we are, and what we are like, and the way that we are reduced to being a pair of t**its and a** esp by some guys...and guess whose magazines enourage that? psychology shows that men dont take this nosedive of self esteem and dont feel ambivalent to their bodies...you dont know how lucky you are, get into the real world and meet a woman instead of falling back on these excuses. You might just find, to your relief in this case, that you are not at all correct about women.

  7. I don't buy them, and haven't for more than 15 years. Most magazines marketed to women are a complete waste of time.  They're designed to indoctrinate woman and to tap into their insecurities only to sell products one doesn't really need!

Better to read a good book.

    EDIT

LOL at the turnarounds. So true. So many times, the article the men's magazines and women's magazine take the same topic and spin it two entirely different way...when you read and compare the articles, then you're like... NO WONDER there's a battle of the sexes.  The women's magazines focus on how to make a man commit to you and marry you, the men's magazines give tips on how to get out of committments and marriage and still have all the s*x you want. Sometimes, some of the spin is more worrisome. For example, years ago, I read a piece on STI's.  In the women's magazines, the writer went into full fledged "victim" mode...Getting an STI was  played up as the absolutely worst thing that could happen to a woman and how your entire self-identity is now compromised because of it and how no decent man will ever love you, and you'll never marry, and you'll *gasp* end up old and alone yadda yadda yadda.  Yet, in the men's magazines, this particular subject was treated a LOT more casually...basically, oh well, sh*t happens, go to the doc and get a shot and get out there back on the horse again.  Crazy, no? Surely, there's got to be a balance, right?
