World number 84, Anna Tatishvili, blasted past the 22-year-old Liechtenstein born, Stephanie Vogt, in the opening round. She registered straight sets scores of 6-2, 6-0 to book a date with the winner of the clash between the Chinese
star, Jie Zheng, and the 16th seed Russian, Nadia Petrova.
Timea Babos upsets Galina Voskoboeva
World number 66, Timea Babos, stunned the 27-year-old Kazakh starlet, Galina Voskoboeva, in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 to reach the second round of the London Olympics. She is just 19-year-old; already an Olympian and now seeking to
reach the advanced stages of the tournament. Next up for her is either the seventh seed German, Angelique Kerber, or the Czech in-form player, Petra Cetkovska.
Yaroslava Shvedova shines bright against Simona Halep
World number 47, Yaroslava Shvedova, raised her game to the next level on the eve of Sunday when she battled the 20-year-old Romanian, Simona Halep, in the first round of London Olympics. She registered straight sets 6-4, 6-2 scores.
She awaits the winner of the encounter between the German 15th seed, Sabine Lisicki, and the Tunisian teenager, Ons Janbeur, to play in the second round.

World number 24, Julia Goerges, registered the biggest upset of the day by ousting the second seed Pole, Agnieszka Radwanska, in three sets 7-5, 6(5)-7, 6-4 to reach the second round at Olympics. She awaits the winner of the clash
between Varvara Lepchenko and Veronica Cepede Royg to meet them in round two.
