Women and their treatment in the world of media ?

This endless talk of objectification by the media

In the past women fought to be fully represented in the world of films and TV

But what did they think would happened if they got in front of the camera an object design to scrutinise the smallest details?

Do women want to be blacked out of every shot?

If a woman don’t want to prostitute herself on screen then why do it, is she not responsible for her own actions?

instead of endlessly complaining why not write good scrips with good roles for women to shine in without been sexual at least 3 billion people would want it. RIGHT?

  1. "Do women want to be blacked out of every shot?"

No, darling, but it would be really nice if, in action or science fiction films, the female scientist was not 22 years old, built like a Coke bottle and inexplicably parted from her clothes halfway into the movie.

  2. lol women rule! end of!

lol tracey that is so true!

  3. Well on TV both genders are shown as objects. So it isn't just women. What I notice is that people don't act very nice toward each other on TV.  I don't think we need to bring back religion but I wish people had some ethics and morals in how they act toward each other in public and on TV. Even the Internet is crowded with images and behaviours of people that are disrespectful and vulgar. Both males and females need to clean up their acts!

  4. IS she not responsible for her own actions?

its the men in media that cause the problem

  5. This is funny, because women (or for that matter, anyone) complaining about objectification in the media are fighting a pointless battle.

It is unfair to say that just women get objectified on screen - Men are objectified just as much. That is the whole d**n point of movies/ads/etc.. They showcase the beauty in things, whether they be women or men or dogs or crocodiles.

When you see an ad, of course it is going to feature a hot girl. Who would put an ugly girl in their ad? And if the ad pertains to men, its obviously going to feature a hot guy. s*x sells, thats just life

  6. The women who are viewed as objects on screen, probably dont care, they get paid, - i dont think its them who are 'complaining'. We are all individuals, some like it, some dont. Just as im sure some men do and some dont. Same goes for men onscreen.

What i would like, is to be able to watch a film without having to see another womans boobies bouncing around, or some similar thing.

And if youre talking about p**n - then most of the women are forced into it. Do you really think women want to have s*x with animals (for example)?? No - but they are forced into it, then young boys download it and pass it round on their phones - thats objectification.

DAN - your last line was hilarious - take Lynx spray, aimed at men, ads full of half naked women. then think about hmmmm adverts for impulse, or some other womans perfume/toiletries..... ah yes! naked women in the shower using them, or women with huge b***s, or push up bras, or short skirts... the list goes on.

And WHY do they do it? Well, i suppose as much as i dont like it, its their choice.

  7. Tracey: if you want realism, then the scientist would not be 22 or hot, but wouldn't even be a woman.

  8. Tracey - instead of endlessly complaining why not write good scrips with good roles for women to shine in without been sexual at least 3 billion people would want it. RIGHT

why do you not answer that? and yes why do they take the role?

    why?
