  1. Because different does not mean inferior. (Someone's already added the "you moron" part, so I won't bother.)

There are many myths here about both men and women. I can't be bothered addressing them, though, people can keep their misconceptions for now.

  2. Can you explain why minor differences should equate to injustice?  If women do the same job why would it be fair to pay them less or not allow the same rights?

  3. I am going to be seriously non-PC here, but my words will echo reason and common sense (things that are anti-PC!)

As mentioned, our society places value on certain people in certain jobs.  I cannot hire women to do heavy lifting.  Simple.  A job I used to have was re-classifed so that women were paid the same as the men: but all the male workers had to be ready to help the women with their tasks when these tasks involved any sort of manual handling, which they freuently did. Effectively, women were not doing equal work.  There are jobs that also pay women more than men: shelf-stackers in supermarkets where I am from are under the same general retail category as the checkout girls, yet get paid less.

When it comes to thinking, only a fool would suggest that men and women think alike: all those cliches, from both sexes, that illustrate how fifferent we are, yet we teach our children along female lines.  Modern western schools are geared heavily towrds how girls learn,.  Everything from the curriculum to method used in classrooms, and discipline as well, all are geared t generally favour girls.

Lotus 777.  Men are not inferior in the reproductive scheme.  We are equally necessary: without us, you would not exist either.  Deal with that fact.  Just because we get away with fewer physiological duties prior to birth it does not mean that we are not responsible in other areas for children.  society certainly makes sure that is the case, and I agree with it.  If you want to believe that women don't need men, then fine: lock yourself in a room with a L*****n lover, and don't come out until you have a child together.  Deal with this fact: both sides are needed, despite your faulty left-wing paradigm that this is essentially a feminine species where men accidently got control.

  4. Because those differences are no justification for giving men more rights and/or privileges than women. Besides, certain traits are not exclusive to men or to women.

  5. Aside from obvious physical differences, there is more variation within the sexes than between them.

  6. Because women work just as well as men. Just because men and women think differently doesn't mean that men think "better" than women.

And they did a scientific study that proved that women were able to multi-task far better than men. So, does that mean that men shouldn't make as much money as women do?

  7. You men make me sick.  You think that women should be denied basic human rights because you think in your own small, closed minds that women are different and inferior.  By asking this ridiculous question, you are showing your narrow-mindedness and lack of intelligence that you are fond of accusing women of.

  8. because we are people who have bills to pay and children to raise just like men.

  9. Umm...equal rights and equal pay has nothing to do with physiologically or biological differences between the genders. Those are basic rights everyone deserves.

  10. We all are human. Someone shouldn't get paid less for gender. What happens if it was the other way around and men were the ones getting paid less for gender? If you can compromise with that then you'll know. Different isn't always a bad thing.

  11. Actually this is a huge disagreement -- lots of individual women are closer physically and genetically to individual men rather than to some unknown woman.

And they ask for equal pay because they are doing the same job.  It's more about what the work is worth rather than what your body looks like.

  12. Because they suffer from an inferiority complex.  They think somehow being paid less mean's they're worth less.  But why is it when a man works at a certain place and there are women around him, he's expected to do the heavy lifting AND the other things that go with the job.  There are no special tasks specifically set aside for women and yet they're paid the same.

LOTUS: Because they DO have less value in society.  At least as far as business and slightly physical jobs go.

Lotus, you are so full of it and egocentric, you've lost all credibility.  Men are who drive society forward.  Men are the one's with brilliant ideas and inventions that.  Men are most of our lawyers, doctors, and scientist.  And they are definately the higher percentage of our scientists who make the most revolutionary discoveries.  Don't know many female Einstiens.

  13. Different doesnt mean inferior. but you're right, we should get paid more then men!

  14. People may be different but they are still people with inalienable rights. Their s*x or gender is of no importance. Everyone is equal and deserving of the same rights and freedoms. That is the point of the free world.

Women are paid equally in the West. They generally earn less but discrimination is not one of the reasons for that.

I found Lotus's post humourous. Male dominance is a necessity in a savage, wild world. Survival depended of the group depended upon the efforts of males who were more suited to hunting and combat. Groups of humans compete heavily for survival and security. A group without strong males wouldn't prosper at all. Humans wouldn't have been able to survive without male dominated society. It's not about insecurity.

  15. The point is there should be equal oppertunity for all!!!

Not that we are all the same as you'd be hard pushed to find to humans the same never mind two humans of different sexes with all that entails ie totally different ways of looking at the world as we will obviously have a different experiences as I would never really know what it is like to be a women even if I tried really hard to imagine (which I never have.)

I think most women quite likely just want a fair crack at the whip so to speak and get very angry when this is denied them by other societle forces they may or may not have any control over.

So I can very easily understand the frustration that this would cause as I have felt similar in certain situations, however I still don't know what it really is to be a women however much I love them( I mean God was a genius or had a horrible sense of humor when he created women and I really can't make up my mind on this.)

My personal theory is that most of the time people are just people first men and women second but to ignore these differences is just folly in my humble opinion.

This is no excuse for not giving women the oppertunities that they crave however and to be honest I think it's got a whole lot better for females in this respect but at what cost?

Well I don't really know as I have said everyone is different.

  16. Different does not mean inferior, or superior for that matter. Women are more patient and can endure repetition, men are generally stronger physically, but there are always exceptions. I'm sorry you can't see why your mother and sister deserve the same rights as you do.

  17. Charss-Actually, women use both side of their brain because we can think with both sides of our brain. We do not have one dominant side over another like men do.

  18. Because different does not mean inferior, you moron

  19. physically yes, psychologically - not sure. everyone's different and gender has very little to do with being different from one another.

  20. Get an encyclopedia. Start with looking up "logic".

  21. Just because we may be wired differently does not mean we deserve lesser, to be lesser, to achieve less. We have an individual psychology, consciousness and mind...We are sentient creatures too

  22. Women should absolutely be given equal pay and equal opportunities.  Equal rights?  I'm all for it.

However, like you said women and men are different physically, mentally, and emotionally.  Science shows us that on average men tend to be better with spatial awareness and mathematics, while women tend to be better with languages and grammar.

Does this mean that women can't be good at math?  Of course not!  Does this mean that men can't learn a foreign language?  Nope!  The science is simply telling us that men and women are hard-wired differently.  This tells us that women and men are not equal in that regard.  Frankly, I'm rather fond of the differences.

  23. It's impossible to "know" a false thing.

It's simply not true that women are different.

Apart from size and placement of genitalia, and role in reproduction (males don't get pregnant), there is NO characteristic that is universal to one s*x and absent in the other s*x. None. Not one.

All the people who've always told you otherwise don't know what they're talking about.

Since women are, in fact, equally human to men, we deserve equal rights, human rights.

Since a widget is a widget, regardless of the s*x of the person who made it, equal pay is only fair. (That is, we should be paid for our work, not for whether our genitalia are inside or outside our bodies; that physical fact is irrelevant in the working world.)

It's simply not true that all women think alike, or that all men think alike.

    PEOPLE vary.

  24. Men and women are different in many ways; besides the obvious physical differences, men are more right-brained and women are more left-brained. This means that we do have different skills and communication styles, but we are still of equal worth. There are jobs men are better at (manual or leadership roles) and jobs women are better at (childcare, nursing) but that doesn't mean that one is more important than the other. I do think that feminists are going too far to try to neutralise our natural gender traits, but all human beings should have equal rights and equal opportunities. And there are some people who don't fit gender roles.

  25. Yes those differences do exist, but do not affect the nature of equal rights and equal pay.  That is plain discrimination.

  26. Why do you think that gender differences should mean that women have less value in society?

Certainly there are things that men can do better than women (especially in the lifting of heavy objects area) but this area of male superiority is less important than the undisputed areas of female superiority. We could exist as a species without lifting heavy objects but we cannot exist without the many reproductive abilities of females. Sure, males contribute the equivalent of masturbation to reproduction, but when it comes to creating and sustaining life, men are inferior.

The reason men need to deny women equal pay and rights is to create a world in which men can feel needed and "necessary." All men feel fundamentally superfluous. It is this primordial jealousy that motivates patriarchy.

Sorry guys. You are more expendable and less necessary. This is why men are drafted and women aren't. This is why men have historically sought to minimize the importance of women. Men feel they can't stand as naked equals to women so they construct illusions of superiority. Men need women more than women need men.

Even though nature or some supposedly male-god made women more important than men, I still believe that everyone should have equal opportunity to express their talents and abilities, to give their gifts to the world. I know that men can be nurturing and women can be brilliant. Both genders should be allowed to express the full range of their humanity and neither should be valued more than the other, and I say this as a member of the more important gender. When you know you are inherently powerful and important, you do not need to hold others back. That's just part of the generosity of the female spirit.

    You're welcome.
