Ok so I've heard about this as a method of contraception..........Since the eggs come through the Tubes I'm wondering - what happens to the eggs, how can they come out or how exactly this works as a contraceptive......also periods don't stop after getting tubes tied right? So what comes out then?

  2. getting ur tubes tied is a surgical sterilization technique for women. This procedure closes the fallopian tubes, and stops the egg from traveling to the uterus from the ovary. It also prevents sperm from reaching the fallopian tube to fertilize an egg. (so theres is not much chance of getting pregnant)

In a tubal ligation, fallopian tubes are cut, burned, or blocked with rings, bands or clips.

The surgery is effective immediately. Tubal ligations are 99.5% effective as birth control. They do not protect against sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS.

Although this the Ovaries continue to release eggs, but they stop in the tubes and are reabsorbed by the body.

can yu get still get your period?

Yes. If you were using birth control pills and your periods were irregular before you started using birth control pills, you will likely have irregular periods after sterilization.

As women get older, their periods change. How often your period occurs, how long it lasts and the amount of bleeding will vary. As you near menopause (usually in your late 40s to 50s), you can expect to have irregular cycles. This happens whether or not you've had a tubal sterilization procedure.

go to this link and look at the diagram
