  1. I'm an agent and there are about 8 ladies who travel with me on a trip each year - usually a cruise.  Give me a call at 866-485-8175 (no obligation) and I'll discuss our travels and answer any of your questions about females traveling, for you in detail.

  2. there are so many people on the ship and so many things to do that you will make friends in no time....dont worry about safety either, i have been on 6 cruises and never once worried about my safety pre or post 9/11.  just be yourself and you'll make friends in no time....i hope you enjoy your trip!!

  3. I went on a cruise about 16 years ago with 3 of my female friends.  It still stands out as one of the best memories of my life!  Of course, that WAS awhile ago, and you didn't hear about people being sexually assaulted, coming up missing, or ending up dead like you do now.  I would make sure to stay with a group of people if at all possible instead of venturing off alone on the shore excursions.  Two women alone don't have much defense against a few guys out to do some harm.  Have a good time on your cruise, but make sure to be aware at all times of your surroundings and exercise caution.  Take care!!

  4. My mother (60) and I (22)  took an amazing Holland America cruise through Europe in May. We never felt scared or threatened, but we were ALWAYS with a group. The shore excursion advisor made comments in his lectures when he felt that women would need to be weary or extra careful.   It was wonderful.

  5. I went on a cruise by myself a few years ago.  I felt quite safe, both while on the boat and on the port of the Bahamas.  If you are by yourself though, you may want to consider booking excursions through the boat, that way you will be with a group of people.  This is especially true when going to the ports of Belize or Jamaca.  But no worries, tragedies are extremely rare, and most of the people you hear of falling over board are extremely intoxicated.  Additionally, with security camera's covering every inch of public areas on the ship, you are safer on them today then you were years age.  Take care and have a blast.

  6. My sister and I went on a cruise together last year.  We had a wonderful time.

Use common sense on your shore excursions.  Don't go wondering around areas where there aren't alot of people.  You will be safe, and you will have alot of fun.

  7. I recently went on a cruise with my sister and a few female coworkers. Not once did we feel unsafe. On the ship we stayed together for the most part, but also went off individually. At the port, we were either in pairs or all together. The best thing to do is to stay together at the different ports. If the excursion is long or far from the ship and there is a chance you may not make it back on time I would suggest booking through the cruise. At most ports they have taxis that get people from the ships and charge a flat rate to show them around, some ports are safer than others though. When you know which ports you will be visiting ask around to see which ports are safe. Also check the cruise lines website to see what excursions they offer and get an idea of what interests you.

  8. I just went with one of my girlfriends to Greece, Egypt and Turkey on a cruise. Our men didnt' want to go. I never felt unsafe.. on or off the ship.  We got a few men hooting and whistiling at us, we just kept walking and giggled about it later. We always walked with confidence, kept our heads up and made sure we were aware of our surroundings. Don't carry a large purse off the ship, keep it small  to go across your chest with strap or wear a hidden travel wallet. Act confident and you will be fine.
