I would like people's opinions on why there are so few women in management positions and how it can be changed.

1. What do you think attracts women to jobs? (eg. flexible hours, decent maternity leave etc.).

2. Once a women gets a job what do you think companies should do to keep her there? (eg. development courses etc)

3. What challenges do you think women face nowadays when it comes to becoming managers or leaders in a work environment?

4. What could companies do to overcome these challenges and obstacles?

Thank you !

  1. I can only offer what I believe for myself, and won't presume to speak for other women....

    1.  Money

    2.  Nothing - not their 'job' to keep me, although if a good worker, it is in their best interests to do so with opportunity for greater wealth and position.

    3.  None - except themselves and their perceptions that men are out to hold them down.  And also their insistence at approaching their careers as 'women', rather than professionals.

    4.  Not the job of the companies to overcome women's issues.  Just offer fair and equitable opportunity and pay - and hey - isn't that the law anyway?

    You're welcome...

  2. I don't see any necessity for it to be changed.  Women who have the ability to cope with managerial positions will get there without a lot of cosseting and fussing over them.  If they haven't got what it takes without being wetnursed, then they shouldn't be there in the first place.

    2. Relationships

    3. Seperating their social life from their work life

    4. Care less about making money and MORE about attracting women to high positions.
