  1. You can not be in the infantry, tanks, or artilery MOS fields...

All other fields are open to you but you will not be sent to a infantry unit..You will serve in a support unit..

For some action you might want to look at the communication field, MP's field, and motor transport field,

  2. There is a big difference between a combat MOS and what 'front lines' are. You can be a in base camp and get a rocket attack as well as drive a truck and hit an IED. Today's warfare is fluid and there is very little in the way of set frontlines.

As for women in certain jobs in the Marines...any Combat Arms MOS's such the infantry, armor, artillery you are automatically excluded. If you have a problem with this..take it up with Congress and our society.

My females (one paralegal and an attorney) were out and about working side by side with Army and Marine infantry units in Iraq providing direct advice on detainee ops and legal targeting to commanders. They also had to go to Iraqi courts and pay claims to Iraqi civilians for things we Americans broke. Lastly, the USMC conducted this 'Operation Lioness' all female search team mission and we help spearhead in our area of Ramadi.

This was without a bunch of fanfare. They were Soldiers and were trained. That's it and no one babied them because they were women.

So you can do the do. Have confidence. Don't pick a job just because you think it has more 'guns' (MPs don't by the way and when you are sitting around watch roads or checkpoints all day you'll be pissed lol...) than another.

Good luck with your choices and research.

  3. Women are blocked from direct combat or combat support roles. If you really are that desperate to get your *** shot at, go into Military Police or become a truck driver.

  4. Women are limited to jobs. Medic, Technician, doctor, Mechanic, Etc.

    No Combat i think.

  5. Women are cut off to jobs that get you on the front line. Women can see combat but not really be apart of it. I'll look it up and add details in a minute.

The guy below me beat me to it. Anyways the front lines are mostly special forces. Something you definitely can't join being a woman. Pretty much anything in "combat arms" you can't become a part of. Leaves you with combat support which would probably be the closest to the fire that you can get.

  6. The link below takes you to a Marine Corps site; under oppotunities the only grouping closed to women is Combat Arms so you might want to look at what some of the other classifications are and what interest you.  Not a lot of information but would tell you about the generalareas you have available to you and brief descriptions of what the job entails.
