Question:

Women in the military from a DS perspective.?

I had a drill sergeant who believed women had no place in the military. He wouldn't train us, and wouldn't even punish us appropriately. Men got pushups, women were told to stand in a corner. (Bad girl?) When a task was coming up, regardless of ease or difficulty, he chose male soldiers.

Your thoughts?

  1. He's an idiot that is putting future soldiers at risk by letting his bias get in the way of doing his job.  It isn't his place to decide if a person should be in the military based only on their gender, his job is to get them ready for the military and to drum out the ones that show a mental, emotional, and physical lack of being able to be military members, and that doesn't have anything to do with where their reproductive organs happen to be.

  2. I think it's sexist and short sighted. He's obviously not interested in whether he's right or not, otherwise he'd treat both the same. Also, he's the one failing to do his job properly - is that ironic?

  3. I agree that women don't belong in the military. It just creates too many problems.

  4. Wow! Where did you go to Basic?  I was in one of the first co-ed cycles at an infantry basic training where I must admit discipline was slightly different between the male and female soldiers depending on who was doing it.  My female drill sergeant tended to be easier on us women then the male drill sergeants were on the men but the men were not easy on us.  I think my male drill sergeants knew how tough we had to be.  However maybe the drill sergeant you had may have had to many reports filed on his previous behavior and now is a little gun shy so he puts you in the corner.  Its sad because you were cheated out of a lot in basic training.

As for the men who do not believe women should serve; did you?  Do women serving make you feel like even more of a coward?  Some of the best soldiers I knew were women and the rest were men.  Both genders working together to be Army strong... an army of one...lol.

  5. Good guy. He's good at his job.
