Going on holiday with my girlfriend this Sunday, booked it months ago and planned the date based on her menstrual cycle so that she would not be on her period or PMT whilst abroad for multiple reasons.

She was supposed to come on around the 15th of this month (Aug). Now 28th and she hasnt come on!! She says she is getting really bad period pains and PMT and feels like she is going to come on any minute. Pregnancy tests proved negative.

Do you think the positive stress of going on holiday delayed her period and then the negative stress of being late delayed it even more? Its very annoying for us both, more so for her as she didnt want to have a period on holiday. p.s we had a big pointless row a few days before she was due to ovulate so do you think this may have also contributed? She has been a couple weeks late a few times before in the three years we have been together. Just doesnt seem like a coincidence. cheers

  1. tell her to go on the pill for a while, it will fix up the cycle to 28days and she can go off it after the holidays.

  2. Chris get over it and into your head, you cannot control her period. Sounds to me that you are the only one that is teed off about the whole situation even though you deny it.....are you a selfish person,is it your way or no way?

  3. It isn't too late to take Northisterone which can be obtained from your GP, this will defer her period. Your GF would have to get this tomorrow though, if your going away on Sunday

    Stress can effect ones period

  4. You're making a fuss about nothing.

  5. yes stress can affect a period but 13 days late is long but then you say your girls periods are not regular so how could you have planned the holiday around irregular periods! normally the menstrual cycle is 21 days give or take a few days. if the irregular period are getting a problem maybe your girl should consider the pill this can help make them regular as for the holiday you can still have a good time just not as good as you hoped x good luck  ( i mean a period comes after 21 days not you have one for 21 days god imagine that!)

  6. Yes to all of the questions in the last paragraph.  Menstruation is fickle, and ovulation (and in turn, a menstrual period) will often delay itself due to any sort of unusual emotional stress.  How long will your holiday be?  If it's only a week, you can cross your fingers and maybe her period will stay away even longer.

  7. if she wants to ensure that she's not on during your holiday, go to the dr and ask for a prescription to delay her period for the week. Hormone pills such as Northeristrone (I think that is the spelling) will ensure she doesn't come on.

  8. Heya Chris,

You are totally right stress can cause your period to be late, this could be both stress of the holiday and also due down to things such as the row you had, and she may be stressed about going on holiday and making sure she has got everything ready. That would explain why she is late to me this month, if she is feeling like shes going to come on i would think she is approaching it very soon and you have nothing to worry about, this is very common our cycles are very sensitive and can be knocked of balance by anything and everything. It sounds to me she got upset and stressed and well she was late. Could she possibly be pregnant? If so i would recommend having a word with your family GP he will be able to do some blood tests 1. to see if she is pregnant at all 2. see if there is any underlying medical cause for her to miss her period. And he will be able to treat her accordingly they may be able to put her on something called the pill that will make her pms stress free and generally her periods stress free aswell, so it will be much more for her and you to cope with on a montly basis. But it definately sounds like she got to stressed and her period should be arriving soon.

    Hope i helped

    x
