Women-only gym clubs - feminist hypocrisy?

just trying to advance the debate so tone down the vitriol, please.

Feminist talk about equality but they fight for women-only clubs like fitness clubs. Isn't this exclusionary and hypocritical because from my experience, any male-only clubs are met with protests and lawsuits???

  1. There are male-only gym franchises available.  Google it, educate yourself  and quit being a crybaby.

  2. Yes and no.  Yes, because of the reasons you gave and because some women are harder to work out in front of than any man.  They can be really catty and mean.  No because private companies should be able to decide for themselves how they want to run their business and who they want as their clientele.  Also men are not being denied any rights.

  3. As long as there is an equal number of male only gym's there doesn't seem to be a problem.

Maybe we should push for the creation of black only and white only gym's while we are at it as well?

  4. Come on thats just grasping at straws isn't it? There are plenty of co-ed gyms. It makes sense a lot of women can feel self councious exercising, swimming and using the sauna in from of guys besides women and men are different I'm sure these places specifically cater to what is best for a woman to stay fit and thin.

  5. No. Men objectify women all of the time. They don't need horny pigs staring at them while they're in spandex workout attire.

  6. "Feminists" fight for women only clubs? LOLOL! Uh, no, they don't. Never have. Feminists fight fro equal rights and couldn't give a c**p less about women's only gyms. BTW, I think it's important that you know that there are men's only gyms, as well. And do you have any evidence for these law suits you're talking about?

So you have no point at all.

  7. You should attempt to be more honest.  The lady's only gym "issue" at Harvard was not a feminist matter but quite the opposite, a matter of traditional subservient women (Muslim) who have been brainwashed to think women's bodies should not be seen by men because men are weak and cannot control their emotions and compulsions.  Feminists don't get all that "traditionally" weirded out over coed work-outs.  And, the history of all-male gyms is more realistically, just by shear volume of them, the real sexist issue.  All-male gyms are the way it's always been. I remember actually shutting down an entire high school's boy's baskerball season in a public school with a law suit as you recommend back before Title IX when only boys were were allowed gym time in many schools.

  8. The same thing with colleges--there are no male only colleges left in the USA but there are female only colleges as well as black only colleges. Seems like the people who are always crying racism or discrimination need to look at themselves.....
