  1. It is effective starting the first day you take it, if you take it on the first day of your period.

It's because of the pill. The pill, especially during your first year, will cause what's called "spotting", red-brownish bleeding that occurs when you're not supposed to be on your period. Really, don't worry about it.

    s*x didn't cause this.

If the problem continues once you go on your next batch of pill, you should check in with a doctor, but for now, you're good.

    =)

  2. I don't think there is something really wrong. Having s*x for the first time can break the hymen which is perfectly normal and will cause some bleeding. There is no need to worry, but you should see whoever prescribed the pills and ask them questions.Even though you were sensible enough to get protection, it was a new experience and your emotions are involved which may cause you to worry more. You don't say how long you have been on the pill, but sometimes people have to change pills if a pill is not correct for them. Just make an appointment with your doctor and tell the doctor what you are worried about and have a GYN exam if you have not already had one. No worry...call doc

  3. It sounds like you just started on the birth control pill.

It takes a few months for your body to adjust to the pill and be completely effective.  It would be wise to use a condom until then.

The bleeding you're having right now is called spotting.  Because your body is adjusting to the pill, you're having some light bleeding.  It is perfectly normal.  The bleeding should stop in a few months, at the VERY most, most likely sooner than that.

  4. 1st ask the questions THEN have s*x.
