and I told him that my periods were getting worse. Well, last time my periods got like this, I had a cyst the size of a cantaloupe attached to my ovary. I had to have surgery and lost my left ovary. Anyway, when I told him this info he suggested birth control to see if that would help. That's fine with me, I just don't want to go under the knife again. He also said he wants to do an ultrasound to see what was up. Before he suggested the birth control he started saying something but stopped and asked if I wanted to have children someday. (I'm 27) I said yes and he didn't continue what he had started saying. I'm not sure what he was about to suggest and of course I didn't ask (dumb, i know). What could he have been possibly thinking? I don't think he was going to suggest getting my tubes tied cuz you still have your period. Any ideas?

  1. he was not concerned about tying your tubes....he was thinking historectomy (uterus removal) and/or about the removal of your other ovary.  if you didnt want kids...then that would be the better route to take and would cure everything....not to mention you wouldnt have to worry about periods or pms anymore....i would say "where do i sign" if i was a chick....lol...  but since you still want kids....bc is really one of the only options left...and that is assuming that it works to help regulate you.

  2. he may have wanted to suggest a full blown Hysterectomy. that would stop you're periods? i dunno though.

  3. He probably asked if you wanted to have children because maybe he was going to recommend having your other ovary removed or a hysterectomy.  I can't be sure because I am not in his head, but that is the only thing I can think of.  Good luck!

  4. He may have been thinking hysterectomy in the worst of instances. That may have been why he asked if you wanted children. Cysts can come back but since you want to have children hes probably going to figure out something less invasive and try to save your other ovary if even if you have another one. Remember that you don't have to go with what he suggests if it is not what you want. You can always get a second opinion if it heads for the worst, and remember you can always adopt if it is the worst. I hope everything is ok.

  5. i think the best option here is to see the doctor and seek help.
