They are as tall if not taller than the Federer, Nadal....back in the old day, Chris Evert, Tracy Austin, Billie jean King, Evonne Goolagong...etc...are much smaller....

Agree. They practice more, they grow taller. When we do physics a lot, it helps us grow taller. They need to be tall to hit the ball harder.

In the old days, women didn't hit the ball that hard.

I would love to go out with a woman like Maria Sharapova. She is amazing at 6'2". Even Ana Ivanovic and Daniella Hantuchova are hot girls. I just wish all the women were taller than all then men. And till now all the women I've dated have been taller than me. But only about 5'7 or 5'8.

In fact I plan to marry a tall Russian woman(5'11 or above) so that I have taller children considering that I am only 5'4".

I agree with you.  I was very surprised when I heard that Sharapova was 6' 2".

I heard that earlier in the tournament and thought, "Oh my goodness".

Maybe what they eat has something to do with it as well.

aaahhh that's why I loved Henin. She could and did whip all of these giantesses with talent and technique and guts. Did you see her on the podium at RG yesterday dwarfed by Safina and Ivanovic? She seemed so frail and tiny compared to them. Brains over Brawn??

agreed. and if you look at the top 20-30,there maybe only four or five girls that are shorter than 5'11. in fact,i believe schiavone,cibulkova and medina garrigues are the shortest.

Absolutely. If you look at the men's top ten, only Djokovic and Roddick are as tall as Sharapova. I remember all the speculation in the late 90's that players would get taller and taller. Hasn't happened on the men's side: no Krajicek, Ivanisevic, etc. But the women? Sharapova, Safina, Davenport, Venus, Ivanovic, Vaidisova, are all at least 6'. Maybe a female Karlovic (6' 10") will be the next up:P
